چکیده

We model a massless viscous disk using Smoothed Particle Hydro-dynamics (SPH) and note that it evolves according to the Lynden-Bell & Pringle theory (1974) until a non-axisymmetric instability develops at the inner edge of the disk. This instability may have the same origin as the instability of initially axisymmetric viscous disks discussed by Lyubarskij et al. (1994). To clarify the evolution we evolved single and double rings of particles. It is actually inconsistent with the SPH scheme to set up a single ring as an initial condition because SPH assumes a smoothed initial state. As would be expected from an SPH simulation, the ring rapidly breaks up into a band. We analyse the stability of the ring and show that the predictions are connrmed by the simulation.

Distributed Implementation of Sph for Simulations of Accretion Disks

We present a brief introduction to Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics SPH where we focus on an approach to treat the physical viscosity Additionally we describe in detail the basic principles of our parallel implementation of the SPH method In the second part we summarise some results of test simulations performed to achieve general features of the method and we end discussing some astrophysical a...

Controlling artificial viscosity in smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations of accretion disks

Context. The fidelity of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations of accretion disks depends on how artificial viscosity (AV) is formulated. Aims. We investigate whether standard methodology is reliable in this regard. Methods. We test the operation of two methods for selective application of AV in SPH simulations of Keplerian accretion disks, using a ring spreading test to quantify ef...

Angular Momentum Transport in Simulations of Accretion Disks

In this paper we briefly discuss the ways in which angular momentum transport is included in simulations of non-self-gravitating accretion disks, concentrating on disks in close binaries. Numerical approaches fall in two basic categories; particle based Lagrangian schemes, and grid based Eulerian techniques. Underlying the choice of numerical technique are assumptions that are made about disk p...

The Role of Thermal Conduction in Accretion Disks with Outflows

In this work we solve the set of hydrodynamical equations for accretion disks in the spherical coordinates (r,θ,ϕ) to obtain the explicit structure along θ direction. We study a two-dimensional advective accretion disc in the presence of thermal conduction. We find self-similar solutions for an axisymmetric, rotating, steady, viscous-resistive disk. We show that the global structure of an advec...
